I had a night class today. When I came home, the pizza box was on the floor, and more of it had been devoured.

Other things the freaky Rex kitty will eat:

Yogurt. After I eat a Yoplait, he jumps up on the table, steals the carton, and licks out as much of the leftovers as he can get.

Ice cream. If I have a bowl, he’ll come sit next to me and beg for it. If I don’t give him some, he will jam his paw into the bowl and get it for himself.

Popsicles. If I’m eating a popsicle of any flavor, Rex must get a lick after I get one. Each and every freakin’ time.

Leafy greens like lettuce. He’ll eat any and all leafy green plant life, whether it’s on your plate or growing in a pot.

Rice. I think he mostly wants to play with it (millions of little pieces!), but he does eat it, too.

Cookies. I was eating a cookie the other day (Pepperidge Farm Orange Milano), and he snatched it away and chomped it down.

He knows I’m talking about him. He just jumped in my lap and started purring. When I didn’t pay him any attention, he skewered my nipple with a razor-like claw. OUCH!!

I’d better appease the beast by throwing him some more leftover pizza.

Geeker-squeaker looooooves bread. He WILL NOT leave you alone if you have a good loaf of some crusty sourdough or french bread. You have to feed him pieces until he’s satiated if you want to eat in peace. He’ll also take some soy ice cream, and steal from any unattended water glass.

Last week, he got into a bowl of asparagus stems (too fibrous for me, I’d bitten off the heads) and snarfed down like a ton of them. I mean, he ate a LOT. I didn’t figure it would hurt him. The next day he vomited up some of the fiber he couldn’t digest, but he kept most of it!

I had a cat who also loved pizza, a love affair that started in her kittenhood. I’m sure the fact that I got her while I was a commonly pizza-eating university student had absolutely nothing to do with it.

In the later years of her life, this even extended to spinach-feta pizza. Yep, even the spinach part. Lots o’ spinach.

I looked at the ingredients in The Worlds’ Best Kitties’ food when I fed them this evening, and “tomatoes” are listed as an ingredient. We can conclude one of the following from this:

1. It’s the stems and maybe the seeds of the tomatoes that are dangerous, not the tomatoes themselves.

2. That site I cited earlier about tomatoes is wrong.

I can’t make Kraft Dinner without _Jacob the Large_ rubbing my legs and begging to lick the pot, the spoon I stir it with, and the bowl when I’m done. If I put the bowl in the dishwasher without offering it to _his holiness_, I get shunned for at least a day.

Cats - can’t live with them, don’t know why we try - unless it’s the mind controll thing.

Our [Babu](http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/anukasbekar/detail?.dir=8352&.dnm=0fd3.jpg&.src=ph) loved bagel with cream cheese, ice cream and smoked turkey meat.

Our Gundu loves shrimp…he can smell it from the very depths of the basement and exacts revenge in terms of ankle biting if he doesn’t get one or two shrimps a day. He will eat raw shrimp microwaved for 15 seconds but his real preference is for 20 count cocktail shrimp thawed in hot water for a minute. My parents actually indulge this and if you eat Gundu’s stash you are lectured for stealing his lifesblood from between his little paws.

Totally off topic, but…

Last night I gave the litterbox, the little tent it’s in, and the litter-catching rug a thorough cleaning. C.C., Rex’s sister, gets upset when litter falls onto the floor of the tent, and she spends chunks of time trying to sweep it all into a pile with her little paw. (The aforementioned OCD.) So I took the tent outside and shook it out.

No sooner do I get everything all nice and clean then does Rex jump into the box and start throwing clean litter around joyfully. He did this for 10 minutes or so. Of course, a bunch of litter fell onto the floor of the tent.

C.C. spent half an hour sweeping all that litter into a small pile with her paw.

I once had a cat that was crazy for cashew nuts. I’d buy the big jars because back at that time in my life, one of the definitions of simple pleasure was slobbing on the couch, watching TV and eating cashews (which was probably one of the reasons I wound up with The Dunlop Disease, but I digress…).

Anyway, Gimlet would hear me unscrew that lid no matter where she was in the house. Within 5 seconds, there would galloping paw sounds, followed by the combination THUD-OOOF as she sailed through the air and landed on my stomach, followed by profanity as she attacked the jar, trying to knock it out of my hands so the cashews would fall on the floor and she could gorge at will. She finally trained me to have a bowl ready to pour tribute cashews into, and she would grant me peace and quiet.

A man and his cat, watching TV and gobbling cashews. That was a good cat.

Luna, the same cat that eats tofu, also likes cornbread. She likes it enough to jump up on the stove  to get it. We left a pan of cornbread on the stove (which, fortunately, was turned off) overnight, with plastic wrap over it. In the morning, we found that someone had gotten into it and taken one bite of each piece. Since Luna will eat the cornbread when we put it in her bowl, and Katya just sniffs at it, we think Luna was the culprit. We now keep cornbread in the fridge.

Sasha likes corn chips enough to bite through the bag that they’re in. She will also lick banana bread batter off the mixer things. One time I had one in each hand, and was licking one. She jumped up on my shoulder and started to lick the other. Unfortunately, she stopped before my roommate could grab the camera.

My cat Hobbes loves peanuts. Any kind, it doesn’t matter. He won’t eat any other kind of nuts though.
Both he and my other cat Algy try to eat my gerbil’s food all the time. I had to put the bag in a kitty proof container because Hobbes tore it open with his bare teeth (he does that a lot).
Also, Algy is particularly fond of muffins, which he always eats quite calmly (after all, one can’t eat muffins in an agitated manner). 😉

Bishop wants anything that comes in a crinkly bag, but especially Doritos and granola bars. I swear that cat about mugged me one morning for a maple and brown sugar granola bar. Weird. He does the water glass thing too and if the level is too low he’ll knock the whole glass over. Twice he’s knocked a glass onto **moi** in her sleep. 😃 Now we only keep a bottle of eater by the bed.

One cat is a stomach on legs and will eat nearly anything.

The other one turns up her nose at human food and most cat foods. But I did find out that she likes salt and vinegar potato chips. 😃 Cat’s got taste.

Tinker, my old Meezer friend that I grew up with (may he rest in peace), used to love peas. Not any peas, but one brand of small early peas that come in a silver labelled can. When we would open the can, he acted like most cats do when you open a can of tuna. He would even scoop up the peas that had fallen from his plate with his paws and eat them.

He would also chase those little bite sized marshmallows wherever you threw them and then eat them until he had a white rabid foam around his mouth.

He loved chocolate, **Tenzin.** We would give him little shavings off of candy bars and such. I caught him one morning licking my chocolate Easter Bunny a few days after Easter (I had set it in an inconspicous place for some midnight munching). Instead of running away, he looked at me, flopped on his side, pulled it in towards his mouth and dared me to take it.

I took the dare. That was a mistake I would never make again.

Our big boy, Baby, likes to drink Mrs. Lacha’s coffee after it’s cooled a bit if she leaves a cup on her computer desk. And when I’m eating cold cereal in the morning and I have to get up, he’s on my chair in a flash, standing up with his gob stuck straight into my bowl, chowing down. He runs away when he hears me re-entering the room; perhaps he thinks he’s fooling me (a little gross, I guess - _I keep eating from the same bowl_).
My mother-in-law’s cat, Missy, used to wait by her feet when she was peeling potatoes, and would eat the raw skins if they fell on the floor.
Beamish used to love fried rice.

Off subject: just bought a new cat tree for the three Youngers, and darned if they aren’t ignoring it, but are taking turns playing in the box it came in!
