So my cousin just became a grandmother. I’m 38 and she is six months younger than me. Her grandchild is the one that made our grandmother a great-great grandmother. (We’re trying to setup a 5 generation photo) I’m happy for her but feeling really old! Good grief, I’m old enough to be a grandfather! ---

Yeah, I’m 37 and a couple of years ago an old high school boyfriend became a grandfather. I consoled myself that a) he was a year older than me and b) it was the child of his step child so it didn’t really count. Last year I heard that a playmate from my pre-kindergarten days is now a grandmother, and no such excuses apply (she’s a few days older than me, and it’s her bio child). Just this month another high school friend became a grandmother and I feel all weird about it. That baby I used to hold had a baby. ---

I wasn’t yet 35 when my sister became a grandmother - although she has eight years on me. ---

I am mid-forties and mostly hung out with the older kids in high school. Translation: they are all now becoming grandparents. My daughter is in first grade. Life is weird, don’t get hung up about it! 😉 ---

We spent Easter with my cousin (6 months younger than me) and his grandkids (3 years older than my brother’s kids). But it’s all kids-of-stepkids stuff. Still weird. But yeah like, one of my friends hooked up with a woman who had a 12-year-old kid a few years ago and everyone all shocked like “OMG she is so old!” And I corrected them and said no, she’s only a couple years older than us. We’re just old enough now to date people and _be_ people who have 12-year-old kids! Definitely weird to run into this stuff when you’re in your 30s. But I think 30 is the new 50 haha ---

I have cousins who are great-grandparents. And my oldest cousin recently passed away . . . at 92! ---

My cousin has a couple of great-grandchildren. I have no grandchildren, and yes, it’s an odd feeling. I guess I’m old enough to have great-grandchildren, but it hadn’t occurred to me until she started having them. ---

Thanks to remarriages and step children, my 48 year old brother has SEVEN children that call him grandad. And we’ve never even been on Jerry springer. ---

Being both gay (so it would take extraordinary effort) and the fact that I’ve never wanted kids. Perhaps one of my siblings. My youngest brother is 21 and probably marrying his GF soon so maybe they’ll pull that off. ---

A nurse I used to know told me they had a 15 year old in to give birth. The girl’s mother had her at 15 and so was becoming a grandmother at 30. Far from a record, probably. Yep, I became a grandfather at 38. I had a lot of fun with her as she was growing up, I was never too old to be around her. ---

My sister is 18 months younger than me (I’m 47) and has 9 grandchildren (3 from her daughters, 6 from her step-daughters). She was 38 when she bacame a grandma. My grandmother is still alive and is 85 yo. It is entirely possible that one of my great-nieces or nephews could have children while she is still around to see it. We had a 5 generations photoshoot done about 6 years ago. It’s cool!
