My dad had a heart attack yesterday and has been in the hospital. Arteries are 100, 95 and 95% blocked and far enough through that they don’t know if they can do a bypass. Today he had an episode (My brother said he coded) and they had to revive him with the paddles. He’s in critical condition, on a ventilator and I don’t know what all else. So, I’m flying to Ohio tonight and am hoping he lives at least until I get there. I don’t know when I’m coming home since I don’t know if I’m going to help out at home until he’s through this or if it will be for a funeral. I’ve been prepared for a number of years for this but it hit me harder than I expected. I’m not sure what else to say, I just wanted to share. ---

I’m so sorry. My dad died last Saturday. He’d been sick since I was 11 (I’m 44 now), so I’d expected it for a long time and it was still a shock. I’m sorry you and you’re family are going through this. ---

Glad to hear he was able to respond to you a bit. Even if someone on a ventilator doesn’t seem very responsive, it’s still a good idea to treat them as if they can hear you. Sometimes people in that situation can take things in even if they’re not able to respond. ---

Antinor, my dad went through this and almost thirty years later(he was 54 then) he’s fine. They did bypass surgery a week after the attack, but the day after the attack he coded. He said “I woke up and a nurse was kneeling on my chest, beating it and yelling ’ Wake up, Harold! Wake up, Harold!” And to top it off it was Easter Sunday. Dad said he never felt a thing, and if he had passed, what better day to go? Let us know how it goes when you can. And don’t get too tired, eat and get some sleep when you can. I’ll pray for you and your dad and family. ---

I’m so sorry that you are going through this. My SO had a cardiac event a few months ago and ended up having a quad bypass. Its scary and confusing and just bites. I’ll send many good thoughts to you and your Dad and your whole family. I know it won’t help with the suckiness of the situation. I hope you post good news soon. ---
