Two T’s. Epiglottis. And you can’t see that, it’s like…I think it’s the thing that keeps you from getting food in your windpipe. But it definitely ain’t the uvula… ---

Actually, your epiglottis is the flap of tissue that closes off your windpipe while you are eating or swallowing. You can’t see your epiglottis just by opening your mouth, it’s too far down into your throat. The dangly thing, as you so delicately put it, is the uvula. It can get infected, much the same way that your tonsils can get infected. It’s just not as common. My only suggestion would be to go see and doctor and get a strep throat swab done. Do you have bad seasonal allergies? My medical book says that allergies can cause it too. Do you have bad seasonal allergies? ---

I stand corrected, my _uvula_ hurts. i don’t have any allergies, but i have been sick for the past 3 weeks, that could have some thing to do with it maybe? ---

How strange…I was just having a conversation with my nine-year-old son about uvulas (what’s the plural for uvula 😕 ) in the car about an hour ago. He had asked me what the cute little depression between the nose and the upper lip was called; IIRC, it’s called a philtrum. I wasn’t 100% _sure_ though, so I brought up _uvula_, knowing that it would appeal to _my_ kid to know this sort of thing. Bathe your dangly thing in hot liquids and honey.
