My daughter is using my encyclopedia!

CARR: I was not aware Gwendolyn knew any foreign languages, and I’m not at all sure I approve. It is the sort of thing that can only broaden a young girl’s mind.

TZARA: Well, in this library the foreign language section includes English.

CARR: What a novel arrangement! Is any reason given?

Undead spellcasters.

This one is a New Standard Encyclopedia. I like it because rather than have a single index volume, words that have articles elsewhere in the encyclopedia are in a small caps font. They also have related articles listed at the bottom of each article. It is hypertext, just not automated.

The news is not all good though, I did catch her googling herself. I am afraid she might go blind.

Very cool! That’s one bright kid!

I remember the story my dad told us about my brother (first born) who read at around three years old. He was a regular prodigy, or so my parents told everyone who would listen.

Soooo…fast forward to the day my dad has his boss and his wife over for dinner. They’re all ready to meet the little brainiac for the first time. They walk in. My brother lays down on the floor in the middle of the room like a moron, his mouth open, staring silently at the ceiling for the entire visit. Ya just gotta love it!

I also liked to grab volumes of World Book and read through them.
