Is 18 years too long for a quick update? I was sitting at the dining room table, hunched over my computer, paying bills. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a box floating in my peripheral vision. As it comes fully into view, I see it is gift-wrapped, complete with a nice dark green (my favorite color) bow. I immediately say aloud “But, it’s not until next week”, and I hear “I know, I couldn’t wait. Unwrap it.” I’ve learned, sometimes painfully, that it is always in my best interest to listen to that voice. So unwrap it I did. Inside the box was a small, skinny book. I quickly open the book, and inside is this very thread, complete with all of the comments, nicely printed out and with accompanying photos. As I turn around with tears in my eyes, I see my cute sweatshirt wearing girl, now a beautiful middle aged woman, wearing the exact same sweatshirt as the day I met her. The sweatshirt has seen better days, has a few holes, has been through some of rough times (and plenty of great ones) and it is worn down by life a bit. And it’s absolutely perfect. “Happy 25th Anniversary.” God, I am so lucky. ---
