Thank you! He’s excellent…all that tongue action is panting from playing. His Rottie brown shows up incredibly well inthe photos, it’s not that noticable in person unless it’s bright sunlight. ---

Could someone else be feeding him? When I was a kid, we had one of the few dogs on the block and the only big one (Collie/Shepherd mix). So if you’re sure the dogs not being fed by anyone else, and he’s drinking water, give him a day or so and if it’s not back to normal, to the vet Mr Dog goes. ---

Never ever ever ever ever. He’s amazingly gentle and delicate of spirit. He’ll slink off at a raised eyebrow. He’s a love. Wouldn’t dream of arguing if his life depended on it. Not with me, at least. Other dogs, he might scuffle. He loves 'em, but he can get a little tense, and that’s my fault, because I get tense. ---

I think his legs are a little too short to be fully Labrador, but there’s no mistaking him as mostly Lab. He’s jet black all over. The rescue group named him Brutus, but I didn’t think he looked tough enough to be a Brutus. I renamed him Brewster, but I mainly call him Brew, which is probably what I’d have called him anyway if I had kept Brutus as his name. He’ll be six years old next month and has definitely wormed his way into my heart. He’s obedient, good-natured and Cesar Milan would probably point to him as a role model for other dogs. ---

But classically Lab and classically handsome indeed! A lot of folks tried to tell me Preston was a lab, and he may have a dash in his DNA, but I don’t see how anyone can look at that face and coloring and declare “Lab!” - of course, his Rottietude isn’t really visible in anything but the brightest light, and his head looks more like Brew’s in real life, the photos emphasize the underlying blockiness of his skull. I also don’t think he’s lab because of his personality: He’s weird. Labs and Goldens are notoriously NOT-weird, at least in the sense that I mean: they are very readable, very classic Doggie, no guile, straightforward expressions. Preston is more…complex than that.
