Although I don’t think I ever actually had any sort of board conversation with your father, he was definitely a voice of reason and one of the posters whose opinion on a subject was always worth paying attention to. On a more personal note, I always greatly enjoyed reading his posts about having been a pilot in the Army Air Force during World War II because it gave me a interesting window into my own grandfather’s experiences as a bomber crewman during the war. I’m sorry for you and your family’s loss, and I hope there’s some consolation in knowing how he was regarded here. ---

I’m never very good in these threads, but having recently experienced the pain of loss I have to say I wouldn’t wish it on anyone… but I do I wish you and your family all the best in your healing journey. Thank you. While my dad was humble and never cared much about what people thought about him, the way he dressed or the car he drove ( his idea of car maintenance was change the oil every 3- 5,000 miles and wash it every 5-10 years, if it hadn’t rained recently ) but I had the feeling that all of your posts and well wishes, even the praise meant alot to him. ---

It makes me think a bit about what we have here, knowing that a Doper on the way out wanted to spend some of his last hours being kept up to date on this message board. **W,** , it’s safe to say that we reciprocated the sentiment. I know his flight into the beyond will be a happy one. ---

I think that membership here will soon be free for everyone. If not, I will pay your membership. That will allow you to search for your father’s old posts. That might bring you a little comfort in the times to come. Certainly you will be able to see how well he got along with everyone – and that is really rare here. He could really be a tease when he wanted to run circles around gullible people like me. I liked that about him. I also liked that there was _someone_ around that was older than me that still had all his lights on. What a good mind! It must have been something special to have been raised by him. ---
