My net acess is spotty so this is the first I’ve heard about your dad. My first thought was “Oh, no…” I always valued David’s posts. He was, for me, a window into a world that existed before I was born. He was a Doper who’s posts I always made a point of reading. He will be missed. ---

My condolences. I understand what you’re going through and how hard it can be. Though I never met your father, he, through his posts, always struck me as reasoned, witty and intelligent. Know that even though you don’t know any of us, you’re among friends here. Peace on you and your family in this time of loss. ---

I posted this elsewhere on the boards when your father passed away. I hope it doesn’t sound trite if I repeat it here, because it is so very true of him: We are poorer for having lost him, and richer for having known him. ---

Counted against the total, only a relative few dopers get to meet in the real world. And so for the most part we know each other only by our posts. David was a liked and respected poster and will be missed around here, without any doubt. Smart, funny, wise, and witty, he was a real part of our online community. My heart goes out to you and your family. ---

Many heartfelt condolences. And on another note, please do not think ill of me for saying, please join us; we’d love to have you as a member, and your cousin as well. If you can compose a cogent, coherent, correctly-spelled and punctuated post, you are most welcome here. It would be lovely to get to know you better. If nothing else, lurk awhile. You’ll see why Dave liked it here. ---
