I woke up after a nap angry at my husband for something he did in a dream I had. It was just so _him_! It was exactly like something he would do! Well, to be honest I was only angry until I realized it was a dream, but still, I was that irrational woman for about 30 seconds after waking. If that isn’t mindless and pointless, I don’t know what is. ---

On election night, my sister dreamed that her husband had been elected Senator. Her husband is a Scottish immigrant who couldn’t even legally vote in the elections, let alone run for office. That didn’t matter. She woke up in the middle of the night and announced just how proud she was of him. Around the same time that he asked why she was proud of him, she started realizing it was just a dream. Wanting to save face, she said she was proud of him because Obama got elected. That didn’t really make sense either, but in her sleep addled mind, it was a great reason to be proud of her husband. ---

My wife has done this to me as well! Something like this: Her - Do you know what you did in my dream last night? Me - …? Her - Well, you went and did this, with that, over there…etc. Me - …? Her - I can’t believe you would do something like that! Me - …? I didn’t do anyth… Her - Don’t talk to me, I’m mad at you right now! Me - but it wasn’t m… Her - Oh, to me it was! And you didn’t even apologize! Me - In the dream or in the real world? Her - Both! Me - …? OK, I’m sorry for the awful actions your subconscious has projected on me and, in the future, I will try not to do it again. Her - Now you’re just being stupid! Me - …? ---

I’ve gotten mad at my girlfriend because of a dream before. In my dream she was being oblivious to a guy hitting on her, and I had to be careful because if I tried to stop him from talking to her I’d look like the jealous boyfriend type. Yeah, I was pissed off at her for a few minutes, before I fully realized it had been just a dream. ---

When I was pregnant I had a dream that I walked in on my husband in bed with some sleazy two-bit whore. When I woke up I was so pissed off that I kicked the hell out of him before my sanity could reassert itself. Him (startled out of a sound sleep): “Huhwha? What the hell was that for?” Me: “You bastard!” Him: “What’d I do??” Me (starting to realize what’s going on): “Oh…I’m sleeping. Never mind.” Whereupon I rolled over and promptly went back to sleep, with my bewildered husband lying there praying for the irrational pregnancy hormones to go away. ---
