“My Google-fu is lacking.” “My search-fu is weak.” Seems like people have been saying things like this with a markedly increased frequency in the last month or two. These two phrases kind of annoy me. Hey. It’s my humble opinion. -FrL- ---

More annoying than “Google is your friend?” Not only is that one highly overused, it contains an implicit insult—suggesting ignorance/laziness on the part of the person to whom it’s addressed. ---

[/QUOTE] It’s not the content of the utterance that annoys me, it’s the form. It feels to me like a cheesy sitcom catchphrase. Its as though everyone in the early 80’s started saying at every possible opportunity “Whatchoo talkin’ about, Willis?” And I bet they did, too. And bet it was annoying. I’m certain there’s a much better, more contemporary example to be had, but, um, my memory-fu is weak today? ha ha? -FrL- ---
