Hello, all. Haggis is very dry and not very tasty-it’s bland, bland, bland–I find I don’t like the texture much. I’m not sure what is worse-the stuff in it, or the name–it sounds like a sinus disease, no? “He suffers terribly from suppurating haggis. The doctor had to remove his nose!” Well, I find it funny. Off to watch Daily Show and then bed, to sleeeeeeeeep. Work was busy, busy, busy today. But no evil directed at me (thank God) ---

a little early, but: **Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Taters!** There’s an Eastern European (possibly Russian) dish called chulant (I am not sure of the spelling) that’s sort of Jewish Haggis. I have to research this because it’s been over 30 years since I learned about it. ---

ok - I found a few discussion boards talking about chulant (which I did spell correctly) but no actual recipes. It’s mainly a vegetarian dish, however, so maybe it’s as much like Haggis as cats are like watermelons. ---

OK…that was one of the things I think I forgot along the way - hang in there, **rigs**. Hope you can free yourself of the hospital earlier than planned. Sorry about your boss, **Taters**. Your job has aspects that are similar to mine and probably more similar to my best work friend’s. He’s exhibiting symptoms of Boss-Who-Doesn’t-Get-What-We-Do. Our current boss gets what we do, but his boss (with whom we interact a lot) really doesn’t. I find it frustrating to hear “it’s IT’s problem to figure out how to deal with that” when it’s actually my problem to tell IT what we need; Best Work Friend finds it frustrating to be bypassed when she’s the logical person to go to. Nearly all of our bosses have been really good (all the way up the ladder), but we’ve had a couple who have had conversations with us that were eerily similar to the one you had today. Fortunately that brand of boss has never been around for long. And: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Well, that was a nice nap. I started to read in bed and was sleepy at 8:30. Woke up and it was 11:19. Felt like it should be at least 5:00. Now, I need to convince myself that I’m really sleepy and need to get back to bed again. Hopefully that’ll work. Almost forgot: haggis:chulant=cats:watermelons…heee. Really made me giggle. GT ---

He once said that it was because that way he’d be sure to remember. Mom said “well, the rings are engraved”. He looked at her like this but with better color: :dubious: (about as much hair though) and tugged at his ring a bit. It’s not that it didn’t come out, it didn’t even wiggle unless he used soapy water… It’s so bad when you think/realize that the people you work with don’t know what is it you do, isn’t it? To me that’s one good reason to take vacation at a different time than everybody else, makes them notice how often do they say “oh, let’s ask Nava” **Rebo** , I have bad news: it’s not age-activated. Or maybe it is good news, since it doesn’t really seem to get worse with age. When grandma complained that she sometimes opens the fridge and can’t remember what is it she wanted, her daughters informed her that if that’s old age, they’ve both been old since their twenties. ---

Happy anniversary to those who are celebrating, and happy Friday to the rest of us! The haggis last night was apparently very good and was up to standard although 'im indoors didn’t touch the neeps 'cos he doesn’t like them. They didn’t have any veggie haggis but the pub has a curry club on Thursdays so I had a meal of daal masala with basmati rice and naan bread, along with poppadums and chutney. All served with a very good beerverage or two. In fact, it turned out to be a bonus night - sent 'im indoors off to the bar for the procurement of beerverages and told him to come back with something “interesting”…so he did. I hadn’t seen which guest beers they’d got, and I was extremely (and very pleasantly) surprised when he came back with a pint of Springhead’s [Leveller](http://www.springhead.co.uk/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=802&page_id=4) which, if he ever bothered to listen to me, he’d know is my favouritest ale in the whole wide world. Followed it up with a pint of [Oliver’s Army](http://www.springhead.co.uk/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=807&page_id=9) and then found a cab to take us home. And it’s Friday! That means I get to go home early today. Woo. And Hoo. ---

Good morning all. First morning this week where I haven’t felt like I was being yanked from my bed by the alarm clock. In fact, I woke up well before the alarm and got up about 1/2 an hour before it went off. I even feel semi-awake. Lunch is made, I’m kinda eating breakfast and considering what to wear today. I’ve been entirely too happy about it being Friday lately. I’m almost delirious this morning. (Why don’t we have a delirious smiley? Does this work ----\> 😃 ?) Good frigid morning! I actually did a double-take when I looked at the weather widget on my desktop. It said -17C. _Minus seventeen degrees Celsius!_ It didn’t even get that cold yesterday on what was reported to be the “coldest day of the year.” It isn’t _supposed_ to be that cold today. We’re only supposed to hit a low of -8C. Now why couldn’t I have been convulsively sick _today?__sigh_ Oh well. Off to prepare for work. Back in 90. ---

**HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE TATERS AND THE SNAKES!!!** That looks really weird don’t it? I could fix it and make it less weird but I kinda like it. 😃 **Taters** that’s just sucky about your boss. A good boss will let his/her employees know what he/she thinks about the quality of work, both good and bad. It is important to hear it when somebody is doing a good job. I make sure I do that, as well as when work performance needs to improve. However, I bet he’d notice if you weren’t there doing what you do so well. **Rebo** that sounds like me. I’d be worried about it except I forget what I’m supposed to be worried about. And… **IT’S FRIDAY!!!** ---

Oh, the irony (and the pain) I built a roaring fire in the woodburner last night to take some of the load off the baseboard heaters, and after tending the fire, I tried to shut the door without looking. Instead of grabbing the handle, I got the door itself… :eek: :smack: I have 2 small 1st degree burns to the index finger and bird of my right hand. I’m not about to tell anyone at the firehouse about this, because of the razzing potential. I saw how much crap Chuck the assistant chief caught for missing the turn to the pig house fire. ---

:: tentatively peeks in :: Is it … can it really be …? YES! It’s FRIDAY!! 😃 Actually, I don’t know why I’m so happy. Us grad students don’t really get weekends. See, my next homework assignment, which I started last night, is due Tuesday. And I have to do my part on grading the exams by Monday. So, no weekend for me. On the other hand, my family is visiting on Saturday and Sunday. My sister is only next week starting her second term at UMass, because they have a crazy long break. So my parents decided to use the opportunity to visit me. Yay family! Oh, and of course CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Mr. and Mrs. Taters and Mr. and Mrs. Snakes!!
