My hairdresser quit and left me with this yahoo

good morning friends

my hairstyle is a pony tail. it is getting thinner as we speak, but sweeping it all back and wrapping a hair tie around it works pretty well.

in the late 70’s. the guy i was working (as a maintenance man in an apartment complex) for told me he would like me to cut and style my hair to look more “professional.” he was even willing to pay for the hair style. my wife took me to an upscale salon. i told the stylist that i wanted something very simple to take care of.

i sat down in his chair with a pony tail past the middle of my back. i got up with a short wavy “style” he gave me some instructions on how to reproduce it. i bought the gel, the conditioner and the brush he recommended and headed for home.

the next morning, i carefully followed the instructions with no luck. most of my hair stuck straight out of my head as if i was statically charged. the boss was happy because the hair was shorter (it was all about the length, never about the style)

on my lunch break i went back to the salon and confronted the stylist. back in his chair, it seemed that he couldn’t reproduce the look either.

he told me that my hair was “too short to hold this style. wait for it to grow out a bit and it will look fabulous!” i pointed out that i had a sixteen inch pony tail the day before, and that my hair was “too short to hold this style” because he had cut it that way. the conversation was getting lous. the owner of the salon camover and refunded my money. a few months later i enjoyed seeing a “for lease” sign in t he space that salon formerly occupied.

I feel your pain, I really do. A few years ago I posted a similar rant about a haircut I got from Regis. The good thing is that it will grow back. It may take years, but it will. And it probably doesn’t look nearly as bad as you think it does. You’re always your harshest critic, so bear that in mind.

That said, I think you should go back and demand your money back. There’s no way you should pay for something like that. And, the salon may not realize how bad the guy is if no one ever complains. It’s worth a try. Make sure to take the picture of the original haircut in with you to show them.

Really dear, I’m sorry you had a bad cut. I know the pain, but we each grieve in our own ways. As you were giving him some hints during the cut, and he ignored them; I don’t think you should have paid him.

Flashback to 1983. I was a young mom with three daughters, with long straight hair down to my butt. I was tired of the baby ripping out handfuls of my hair and wanted a shoulder-length wavy sort of hairdo-thingy (think Veronica Lake). I explained to (Mr. Charles) that I wanted a shoulder-length cut, with some waves to it.

‘Mr. Charles’ proceded to chop my hair, wrap it in Lilt Home Permanent-type rollers and all the while crooned to me that I would look ‘beautiful’. Lying bastard!! I ended up with a helmet of fuzz. I looked like a dust-bunny that had escaped the Bad Hair institute. When I got home, my daughters laughed at me!!

It took me years to grow my hair back to the simple style I had always worn it in. I now have a relationship with my stylist “Lorrie” and I guard her jealously from all others, as her appointment book is now closed. She listens to me, and always asks what I want. I am not my hair-stylists’ playtoy! I am not a Barbie doll!

You may want to stay away from that Salon and start from scratch, or demand a refund. Don’t give those Bad Stylists power over our heads. Make them accountable. Burst into the Salon, check-stopped powers a’blazing; and declare “I am taking back my dignity!”
