# My, how time flies. I’ve been on these boards since May 14, 2001. That date seems so long ago now. I fell in love with a guy I’d dated forever, and was crushed when he dumped me. I’ve found a **Rebound Guy** who treats me like a princess and makes me laugh until I wet my pants. I cried with a lot of you guys as the World Trade Centers went down. I smiled (and maybe got a teary eye or two) when **Airman Doors & MsRobyn** gave us the **First Official Doper Baby**. I’ve lost some friends in real life; I’ve gained a lot more here. I’ve gone from not knowing where I was going to find money to pay my bills, to living in a comfortable place. I’ve bitched and moaned, and rejoiced and cheered people on. I’ve never been a member of any other message board, so I feel lucky that this is the first one I joined. Here I was met with a caring community of people, who give a crap when you’re down, cheer you on when you’re happy, and aren’t afraid to tell you to put a sock in it when you’re being an ass. (Well, not a sock in _that_ sense. Oh, you know what I mean! 😛 ) You people have made me laugh until I cried, and cry until I can’t cry any more. I honestly feel like if I ever met you all in person, I would feel just as comfortable as I do with my real-life friends. (And the Dopers I have met, **Slainte, sidle, Eve,** & **Mjollner** are truly _cool_ people.) I just wanted to take this opportunity (well, the occasion of my **999th** post) to say thank you to you all. I’ve never met a kinder group of people, and I want you to know that I appreciate you all. Okay, now that all that mushy stuff is out of the way, who’s bringing the kegs? I prefer Newcastle, but I’ll drink Guinness if that’s all you’ve got. 😃 And I know that people who come out get toasters, but what do idiotic post-count-party-celebraters get? I kind of need a new coffee maker for my office.😉 ---

I know what you mean. I can’t believe it’s been three years for me. I mostly lurk and then have spurts of posting frenzy, but I’ve been a most loyal Doper. Hopefully, I’ll reach 1000 posts before another three years is up. I’ve separated my life into two categories: Before Dope and After Dope. After Dope has been much more fulfilling. ---

Yes, the **Rebound Guy** is working out quite well. I just got off the phone with him, and he called me just because he misses me. 🙂 He’s aware that he has some fierce competition, though. He knows I have a mad board crush on a certain striped Doper. But I don’t think he’s too terribly worried about it.
