# My HP laptop sometimes resizes my display when I dock.

I work in a cube. My boss has an office and is often out of the office. For conference calls and such, I undock my laptop and dock it in his office for the call so I can close the door. Undocking from my station and docking with his doesn’t cause any issues (I leave the laptop on, just undock and move it - it’s closed at this point).

When I undock from his station, I have to open my laptop up or it’ll shut off (not a regular shut down, it just shuts off and I have a nasty re-start). This does not happen vice versa. Then, when I dock it at my station, the display is HUGE, and nothing, save for shutting down and re-starting, will fix it. Logging off and back on doesn’t work, and while adjusting the display is a temporary fix, when I shut down and re-start next time, everything is teeny-tiny.

Any ideas why this happens?
