And it’s getting annoying. At first it was funny, that everytime he inhaled deeply through his nose it would sound like a squeaky toy. We entertained the pets and the kid, by making it look like he squeaked everytime I poked his belly. But now he’s been doing it for a couple of weeks. He has no idea what’s causing it, and won’t go to the doctor because he has an annual visit scheduled for next month. Now, he’s started doing it very faintly in his sleep. I was up at 3:00 a.m. looking for the kitten I thought was outside the bedroom window, before I realized it was just my husband’s nose. ---

This sound suspiciously like a dry sinus cavity issue. He should try steaming himself for a while. That or get a job as a traffic cop. ---

Be sure he mentions it when he goes in for his check up. Tell him that he’s whistling in his sleep now too, and he should let the doctor know. It could be for all kinds of reasons, [this](http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nasal-polyps/DS00498) is one that came to mind. IANAD, and he should ask his doctor what is going on. Good luck. ---

Try doing a nasal wash. [Instructions here](http://nationaljewish.org/disease-info/treatments/alt-ther/nasal-wash.aspx). I recommend using a [bulb syringe](https://www2.vaxserve.com/index.cfm?event=getProductDetail&product_id=1509) and they can be bought cheaply at Walgreens, Wal Mart, and the like. If something is stuck, this will wash it out. Also, if he as sinus problems, continued use of the saline solution can cause the mucuous producer thingies in the sinuses to shrink in size and ease allergy problems. ---

**Zabali\_Clawbane** , I was thinking it might be a polyp or some other type of growth too. But it’s weird that it only does it when he inhales deeply. I’ll make sure he mentions it to the doctor. ---

IANAD but sometimes a person can develop a hole in their septum which would cause something like this. I had one. Granted it was **after** I had surgey in this area. But my doctor did say these things happen naturally. If it was a small hole, it wouldn’t be anything that needed attention straight away. ---
