# My Husband Has Bladder Cancer \[sad update\]

I also don’t like the texture of yogurt and Yoplait makes both regular and Greek yogurt in Whips. It’s fluffy. I can eat it. Not saying everyone should but it does get rid of that grammar-school paste texture.

I know I’ve been kind of quiet this week, but it’s because I’ve been preoccupied with the spouse and chasing down various medical types.
He’s had a bad week and is very weak. He stopped being able to eat at all and he’s currently on intravenous nutrition, which is far from ideal, but something had to be done, His fear and anxiety have been through the roof. Tomorrow he’s getting his first radiation dose which is for pain-relief purposes rather than a cure. I’m hoping this is a (large) bump in the road and he’ll rebound as he did when he first started chemo, but we’ll see.
Pretty tired and need a break from all this medical stuff, so more later.

I was on IV nutrition (TPN) for awhile and it did keep me going. Here’s hoping it will give him some energy and he’ll feel better.

You may find this helpful and there is a specific group for bladder cancer. I know when my husband was sick I found it a great resource for not only information but support from other spouses.

**Broomstick** has asked that I let you all know she’s focusing most of her attention on helping care for her husband at the moment. She very much appreciates all the support she’s gotten here but is not at present up for sharing the details. She does want you all to know that her hub is feeling better thanks to some recent interventions, but the situation remains quite serious and complicated and rapidly changing.
She’ll be continuing to read SDMB as time allows, so she’ll still be in our midst. Let us keep her and her husband in our thoughts and postings.

Just a brief update from **Brookstick** ; Everyone is now focusing on more palliative options for her husband, as it seems the potentially therapeutic ones are now futile, given his current medical situation. She’s busy overcoming the hurdles involved in finding the necessary levels of care at local nursing and hospice facilities. She’s very sad and tired but persevering.

When I was a health aide we had to give our clients some PC , personal care before you could do any light house keeping b/c too many people were refusing PC and only wanting house work done. The insurances companies didn’t want to pay for house keeping only , if a client refuse PC I had to call my boss and let her know this then go to my next client . I can understand about having thoughts about having a stranger in your house . If don’t feel comfortable with a health aide you can ask for another one. Health aides have to a background check at the company I worked at .
