**Broomstick** , it feels like all too recently we went through this with my dad, who also had bladder (and kidney) cancer. You have my best thoughts with you. I’m glad your sister is there.

Years and years ago, a friend of mine recommended a book called, “Final Gifts.” It was written by two hospice nurses, who had observed the passing of many patients. No matter what the person’s beliefs were (and some had none at all), every single patient seemed to make the same final journey.
These nurses used their experiences to inform new hospice patients and their family members of this journey, and this made the process much more comfortable to all.
Alas, this treasured book is out of print. I have gifted it to many, many people, and all were helped by it. I’m so glad I read it before I lost my parents. I don’t know if I would have survived the experience without its comfort.
Mister Broomstick has a “guide” with him now. He’s never alone, so please don’t begrudge yourself the time apart from him, to take care of your own needs.
May you take comfort and receive peace in your memories.

**Broomstick** ’s husband died at 11:20 am this morning.
He was not in pain, and he was not alone. She was with him at the end and his death was as peaceful as possible.
He was loved and will be missed.
