# My husband has to fly to CA and I'm scared

The trip was originally scheduled for the first week in Sept. I’m SO thankful that it was not scheduled for the second week! We live in VA, so he’ll be flying out from BWI or Dulles. I am SO worried that something is going to happen. It’s not going to be a straight flight out, they will fly from here to Milwaukee, and from there to CA, which makes me feel a tad better. If any Dopers have flown recently, please reassure me that you had a safe trip! I am going to be a nervous wreck while he is gone. His flight leaves early next week and he’s supposed to be there for about 5 days. Please pray for his safety/think good thoughts/send good mojo his way. And send some calming vibes my way, too. I’m not dealing too well with any of this.

My guess is that the next few weeks or months are going to be the safest time to fly in America since, well, ever.

If it makes you feel any better, I flew on Saturday (9/15) and again on Tuesday (9/18), with no problems.

I flew on Friday and Sunday. I agree with Ethilrist that this is the safest time to fly. The amount of security is way, way up, and the number of passengers is way, way down. We all hope his biggest worry is missing his connection. 😉

Moggy, my husband is flying back from L.A. tomorrow night. He’s been there since last Tuesday - his plane was in the air when everything happened. He stayed over the weekend, instead of flying back last Friday and out again this Tuesday, just to avoid the utter chaos at LAX on its first day open. We’ve been talking about this the past few days, and we both came to the conclusion everyone else in the thread has, that it’s probably a lot safer now than it was when he got on the plane Tuesday morning.
I will definitely keep a good thought for you and your husband, and I’ll work on sending out the calming thought waves, too. I’m convinced they’ll both be just fine, and so will we all, eventually.

On september 17th I flew from Stockholm to Brussels where the European Union and NATO HQ are and I am still alive. Your husband should have no trouble at all.
