Good luck with your husband’s treatment, and don’t forget to take care of yourself while helping him. It’s not selfish to seek a little comfort and support and recharge your own batteries when you need it.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles **faithfool**. Just to offer you another hopeful voice on the multiple myeloma: my dad (who lives not far from you–in Dallas) was diagnosed in 2006. He is being treated by [Minal Barve](http://www.texasoncology.com/doctors/Minal_Barve/) at Texas Oncology. She got his myeloma into remission early on. It is active again, but his doctor has stated that she can get it into remission again. So he is 5 years after diagnosis, still going strong.

Don’t throw in the towel just yet - my grandfather had multiple myeloma in his 70s, kicked its ass, and died 10+ years later (at 87) of something entirely unrelated. He was a crusty bugger with a positive attitude, which probably helped. Good luck.

I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now. I’m hoping you are finding some time in all this to take care of yourself. IIRC you suffer chronic depression and I imagine it must be even harder right now. I’ll definitely be keeping you and your beloved in my thoughts.

I work with a client who has multiple myeloma. I’m amazed at the progress he’s made and how well he’s doing over 2 years after his diagnosis. The treatments for it have vastly improved over the last decade.

My last two blood tests show my liver functions are elevated. Literally like one point over normal.
We are going to stop one of my drugs to see if it is that, and if my numbers don’t return to normal in December, we will do an ultrasound.

Thanks everyone. I’ve now tried three times to post this from my phone, but so far no luck. Perhaps if I keep it brief, it’ll go through this time. ::: crosses fingers :::
I really appreciate all the stories on how your loved ones are doing better with Myeloma. Right now I’m feeling overwhelmed and I know my faith is flagging and you guys have stepped up and heartened me.
And considering that they haven’t diagnosed him yet, I got all my information online. Which of course only tells the bad stuff and nothing uplifting. So we are thrilled that they may be hope indeed. I’m going to keep my eyes on that and not let the other negative thoughts make head-way.
At this moment, we are about to leave to go back to the hospital again for another transfusion. He’s too low again and they have to walk a tightrope on this due to his Portal Hypertension. I’ll report back in when I can.
Other than that, his results for the bone marrow biopsy will be back Monday week. There will definitely be an update then. Thanks again so much. For everything.
P.S. To BlueKangaroo – You both have been on my mind lately too. I’m sorry we haven’t reconnected… it’s all been my fault. Hopefully, I can do better in the future.
