Not that I would put the laptop in the oven anyway, here are two problems with that:
I have an electric oven, not a gas one. There is no “pilot”
the oven in our house doesn’t work and hasn’t since we moved in. Neither does the dishwasher, so if it were “just a keyboard” I’d be just as SOL
I called the manufacturer and they said it is not covered by my warranty and I have to take it to Radio Shack, Best Buy, Comp USA, or… um… one other place.
Good news, I actually got it to turn on today. THe guy said to keep it off til I can get it fixed though, since it could still short out even with dried soda goo.

I used to have a dishwasher…but we broke up. [insert cheap vaudville comedy-type rimshot here]
hahahahaha only kidding.
Definitely don’t mess with your computer at all until you can get it cleaned out properly. I’ve seen circuit boards completely burned out from trying to power on with apple juice on them (don’t even ask). If you got it to power on once, consider yourself lucky, cough up the couple hundred to get it cleaned by a professional (it’s definitely not covered by your warranty), and beat your husband with a blunt object (not the computer).

but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.

Since you say you can turn your laptop on, if you are handy with small tools and do it very carefully, you could take the laptop apart carefully, enough to see where the soda had flowed to. If its only the keyboard, it can be replaced even on a laptop. Hopefully thats all. It might went past that but only affect the casing, in which case you are OK. I just had a fiend’s laptop keyboard replaced after she spilled coffee on it. It happened to be a DEC Ultra, so the keyboard was held in by two very convenient latches. Other laptops may require a bit more careful work.
I ve put a lot of electronics in the oven & they always come out just fine. I don’t think it gets to 90, though, maybe yours does…
You should see what happens when a cat pees into your computer. Now that is gross as their urine is highly corrosive.
Try this.
As a bonafide slob, I’ve dumped gunk into my desktop keyboard and cleaned it out myself. Soda is BAD, BAD, BAD – keep hubby away from the lap top with any sticky liquids.
I shut my system down completely. (Pull the batteries on the lap top.) I removed the cover, tilted the keyboard at a 45 degree angle – to keep things from pooling inside – and flushed it with alcohol. With a soft brush – paint brush – I carefully scrubbed away the soda that refused to be flushed. (Got a WHOLE LOT of other crap outa there also!)
Then, I let it sit in front of a fan for about 30 minutes to dry most of the liquid off. I then carefully examined it, found some damp spots (all alcohol has some water in it) and dried it with my hair dryer on real low and at a distance.
I put it all back together, waited an hour, then returned it to the system and powered it up. It worked great! It still does!
I had a TANDY laptop once and did the same thing and cleaned it not only with alcohol but with a tuner cleaner. (I had to be careful around the disk drive because some tuner cleaners have a light oil in them and would make the rubber drive belt slip.) I fixed that one also.
The alcohol used is unscented medicinal alcohol – scented has an oil in it. DON’T SMOKE AROUND IT WHEN CLEANING! Do it in a WELL ventilated area also – or the fumes might knock you over.
