# my husband wants to post too..

Many, many Dopers share a computer with other household members who also post. It isn’t a problem, but if you’re concerned, email an admin and let them know what screen-name he’ll be using.

You both need to make sure that your respective usernames are logged in when you post. To log out the name that isn’t yours, head over to the forum index page. At the bottom, there’s a link that says “Log Out”. You’ll get a “cookies cleared” page, and then when the page refreshes, there’ll be login fields at the bottom of the page. You can then log in with your own username and password.
If your hubby’s having trouble registering, try have him log you out first. He should be able to register then.

You can log out from the links on the Post Reply page and next to your username in the Quick Reply box. Although the log-in from the Quick Reply section is wonky (i.e. it doesn’t work), I believe the logout does function.

I just checked…you can log out from the quick-reply link next to your username, but you cannot log in that way. Or, rather, you can, but it then gives you a “no link specified” for the thread you were reading, and you have to reload the thread for you to be able to post. In some browsers, just clicking the back button works (Mozilla does this), but IME, Explorer doesn’t work, so you lose whatever you may have typed. This is not a problem if you post by hitting the “Post Reply” button at the bottom of the thread - if you aren’t logged in, it will ask you to, and then it WILL bring you to the reply page for the thread in question.

If you use Netscape, you can set up different profiles. Look for Netscape’s Profile Manager; double click on it. After you set up more than one profile, when you start Netscape, a box will appear asking you to choose which profile you want to use. Each profile has its own history, bookmarks, cookies, et c.
