People like the OP’s cousin are a financial opportunity. Make a wager with them on what they believe are likely scenerios. If that does not work, create a contract for future services. For instance, if a person believes the rapture is nigh, offer to take care of their pets for a small (several hundred dollar) fee paid in advance. Obama gonna size guns before November? Offer to store a few for 50 bucks a month per gun. There are many more examples easily thought of. If the cousin truly has the courage of his covictions, he will put his money where his mouth is. ---

Well sure but people are impressed now because pamphleteering sort of got shoved off to a corner of insignificance during the age of the big newspaper empires and Fairness Doctrine broadcasting. For a while there in the mid 20th Century they would just stand in a park corner passing out mimeographed sheets and everybody would assume it was just the town crank. 'Twas the interwebs tubes and Talk Radio that revealed that there were still millions of cranks in every block in every town.
