Sometimes there is a switch on the brake pedal and/or the clutch that keeps you from turning the ignition key. Your brake or clutch must be engaged before you can turn the ignition key. If you step on the pedal but the switch doesn’t engage, the car’s computer thinks the car is in gear/is unbraked and won’t start for safety reasons.
I had to have my car keys replaced once (lost them, dunno where). It cost about $80-$90 bucks, and the locksmith came to my house at 10:00 at night and did it (had to have the car the next day). I did NOT have AAA.
