> For a while (although I haven’t noticed it quite as much recently) it seemed like almost every cop/detective show or movie would have a scene where one of the main characters would meet a suspect or informer in a strip club. Which meant, of course, that there would be scantily clad or topless females (depending on the rating of the show) in the scene also.

Ah, now I know what **Gala Matrix Fire** is talking about. OK, that might be a cliche, but I wouldn’t say it’s any more gratuitous or cliched than the just-as-obligatory shot of the cops drinking coffee and burning the midnight oil at the department; both are clearly meant to quickly tell us something important about the characters, the crime, etc. I think the problem is that writers on those shows needed to step outside of the box and challenge themselves more, not that they were showing too many gratuitous titty shots. But, again, I don’t seek that stuff out, so I concede that I may have missed the more egregious examples.

Well, if it makes any difference, a lot of strippers are sick of our industry hitting the mainstream. It is bad enough that pole dance classes have opened up in every city and that its in every movie and tv show. Now our clubs are full of women patrons every weekend. It sucks. I’d be fine with going back to being associated with the scary, seedy underbelly of city life. It was better that way!

Years ago I went to the bachelor party of a friend. He was a really good friend, and I wanted to be included. As a condition of being included, I had to smoke a cigar (was sick for HOURS), drink a beer (my first and last since college), and have a lap dance. It was hard trying to find someone willing to give a woman a lap dance. Apparently (and surprisingly to me) this was a really uncomfortable situation for a lot of the dancers.
