My kitty is getting her teeth cleaned

That’s what happened. The vet said she can go back to dry food, but I gave her canned last night, as a treat for being good for the vet.

That’s amazing. My cats normally get kibble, but they get canned food, which they seem to like much better, as a treat. I don’t want to feed them all canned food, because I’ve heard that cats who eat only canned food tend to have much worse teeth than those who eat mostly dry food.

Interesting- Katya’s full name is Ekaterina Petronilla. I named her after Catherine the Great and Peter the Great. I suppose, naming her after two of the most energetic tsars, I deserved what I got. Once, I decided to test her endurance by playing with her with a mouse on a string (which she loves). I started at 7pm. At 11pm, I got tired before she did and went to bed.

That could explain the tooth problems–Russian Blues are susceptible to gum problems. My Russian kitty, Meep, had problems with gingivitis and had to have several teeth pulled. We tried to clean her teeth but she hated it and it was stressing her out, so eventually (at age 4.5 or so) she had to have the surgery. She came through it fine and didn’t even seem to miss the missing teeth (including both front fangs).
