It would have been harder if we still didn’t have her sister. We still have some of the same mannerisims, and they’re far from interchangeable…and unfortunately, the death of the two cats before Bella were recent enough to remember. (about 7 years ago) She was a fiesty fireball and will be missed…but the world keeps turning, too. ☹ ---

looks like my first cat. got 19 years out of her. She wasted away to nothing but still got around well until the last week. It wasn’t a hard decision. My other cat caught me by surprise. One day I found her just laying in the litter box. Took her to the Vet and her kidneys were toast. She made it to 15. Sorry for your loss. ---

My condolences for your loss. As \*\*Cat Whisperer \*\*said upthread, we had many talks about what to do with Max after she was diagnosed with renal failure. The two months we had with her after the diagnosis were far too short, but on her last morning it was clear that it was time. She wouldn’t eat any food at all (although she did drink some water), she was stopping to rest in odd spaces that morning; she obviously just didn’t have any fight left in her. After calling the vetto schedule her final visit and calling \*\*CW \*\*at work to tell her what was happening, I spent the rest of the morning with my little girl and then around noon I took her to the vet’s office where \*\*CW \*\*met us and we watched Max’ final moments. I was a wreck for the rest of that week and now, several months later, the emotions are still right under the surface. It’s a very hard decsion to make, but it sounds like you made the right one for Scarlito. All the best to you and your gf. ---

I’m so sorry. I too lost a kitty to kidney failure. I know it doesn’t make it any easier but you did do the right thing. ☹ ---

**Try2B** , I’m so so sorry. She was a beauty! It sounds like she had a wonderful life with you two. I have an adorable kitty who was rescued up in the no-entry zone where the earthquake hit. He has kidney failure and I’ve been doing all the things you guys did for your baby. God help me, vets here don’t believe in euthanasia, so I am dreading the future. I am glad you and your girlfriend did the right thing for your little one. Thank you for sharing your story, and her beautiful picture, with us. ---

Actually though it does make it a little easier to know we did the right thing. The second-guessing was an absolute must beforehand, but in retrospect there weren’t really any options. I hesitate to give any advice for the looming future though. I may be the only person who would get the gloomy first half of [Vallee d’Obermann](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQRKUNeM0jA) stuck in his head at a time like this, so I will share that for anyone who might like to be moved to shed a few more tears for all the fallen kitties.
