Today is my last full day on the job. I had a personal holiday I could have taken, but we got Monday off on account of Hurricane Wilma, and I’m trying to wrap things up before I depart. I’ll lose that personal holiday, but I have a few leave days I should get extra money for as part of my October paycheck (since we get paid the last day of every month). I have to show up here Monday morning, and then I’ll tie up any loose ends, say goodbyes, and then drive to Orlando for my formal exit interview in the “big city.” But I have 6 or 7 hours of comp time coming to me, so after the exit interview, I made them aware I’m going to take the rest of the day off. Strangely, I don’t feel much… not happiness or sadness, not relief or disappointment. I’ll miss my co-workers, but I’ll stay in touch with a few of them. I won’t miss the job too much, but I feel like it was a good experience for the last 11 months, and I don’t bear anyone any ill will even though it wasn’t my choice to leave. I’m leaving on good terms with everybody here, and I know I’ll stumble into something better after this. ---

**Lou** , I’m very excited for you. That may seem inappropriate, since your post is all about leaving a job, but it sounds like you’ve found something new to do that excites you very much. Enjoy your last day, and know that tonight I’ll be raising a glass to you. And, perhaps, having one or two wasabi peas in your honor. ---

Good luck **BBVL**. I’ve gone through something similar very recently and I had the same feeling of ambivalence towards it. Actually they were both feelings of great relief and deep regret. Good luck, Lou. Like you pretty much said, you’ll fall ass-first into something better, more fun and with higher-pay and bikini-clad women. If you find something like that (esp. with the bikini-clad women) see if they have a branch office in the Baltimore-DC corridor, will ya?
