Actually, the last cool car I owned was a 73 AMC AMX (Javelin (Pierre Cardin edition no less)) with a built 401, 4 speed. She could take a Maserati in straight line acceleration no problem. Not so good on a slalom course however. I boat anchored the motor for the second time and had to part with her. Sniff… ---

Here in the Boston MA area, one big megadealer (Ernie Boch) has announced his new Maserati /Ferrari dealership for years now. The site looks like work has stopped on it-I wonder if the noveau riche have decided that it doesn’t look so good to be driving these rolling status symbols, while ordinary people are losing their jobs? Seriousl, i am struck by how closely the maserati resembles a Buick-even the phoney side ports! These luxury cars tend to depreciate rapidly; and many are unsellable, because the maintainence is so expensive (brake job on a Frearri is around $2,500). ---

Yep, the Hummer dealer here (Bergstrom) went from selling the hulking SUV’s to the more economical Smart Cars at one of their locations. Quite a flip in inventory, wouldn’t ya say? ---

I saw where there were two MAYBACH sedans on Ebay-both unsold. the MSAYBACH is probably the biggest turkey since the edsel-it looks like a somwhat larger DAEWOO Leganza, but costs $300,000 new. it seems there is no market for used ones. ---
