Rather than pile-on, let me put this once again from the perspective of a father of a 5-year old. I take kid the McDs (no, I don’t - he prefers In-N-Out, but bear with me). We get out of the car, with strong admonition to hold hands in the parking lot. I pull open the door and he darts in, bounces off some guy walking through the doorway, and keeps going. I want to follow him in, but this guy just keeps going. My usual response would be to tell him to be careful, watch where he is going, and apologize for typical 5 year old behaviour. However, the customer leaving not only does not say anything (e.g, “Whoops” or “look out” or “sorry” or “didn’t see you” or “are you OK?”), he stares at me and walks out as if I had opened the door for HIM. He has not acted as if running into my son matters a bit to him. So now he is taking advantage of my opening the door, has run into my kid, is blocking me from following my son, and is staring me in the eyes as if nothing has happened. My initial reaction would have been to say sorry, simply to grease the wheels of society. Given the stare down, I bite my tongue and mutter something (OK, I wouldn’t - I usually either confront or ignore - rarely in between). See - I might not have seen if you were walking or standing - your continued motion through the door makes me assume that you were already walking however. What does the father see - some guy slam into his kid and keep going. A simple “whoops” out of you would have gotten an apology out of me. This was an accident on both sides, but your actions (as reported by you), make you appear to be the greater transgressor here. Add in the fact that you NEVER get in between a poppa bear and his cub. ---

Am I the only one who is amused that we are examining this incident with the detail given to the Zapruder film? I believe there was a second five year old, hidden behind the Mayor McCheese. The security video clearly shows that his head went up and to the left. ---
