# My mother-in-law died

No, that’s not the start of a bad joke. I could never make mother-in-law jokes anyway because I actually _liked_ mine. Loved her, even. She accepted me into the family with open arms and an open heart and loved me as if I were her own son.
In 2005, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer and given a prognosis of 14 months. She made it 6 1/2 years before finally succumbing a week before Christmas, leaving my father-in-law – a terrific guy in his own right – a widower too soon. She was 69, as is he.
R.I.P., Carol. We miss you.

My condolences as well. I, too, love my in-laws. I really identify with my mother-in-law, as we both have type I diabetes.

My MIL died suddenly (stroke) thirty years ago. She was a wonderful person, and I still think of her fondly. I wish she could have been with us longer. She was only 65.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I wish you and your family peace.
(I too loved my mother in law dearly, after her stroke she was left bedridden, and I became her caregiver for 6 yrs. Nurses, doctors, case managers, etc, visiting our home inevitably assumed she must be my actual mother, and were universally shocked to learn she was my mother in law. Idiots!)

I’m sorry for your loss, Wheelz. I liked my mother-in-law MUCH more than her daughter. She was an astrologer and I don’t hold with that truck, and we argued about it almost until the day she died, but always playfully and with good humor.
