I shall think twice about writing something negative about Israel again. I suggest that we close the pit instead of just closing my thread. I thougth this was a board for heated debates, a board we could let out some of our frustrations! I’m not surprised if I have hurt anyones feelings, but this is the pit. A lot of people get a bit hurt when they read some of the threads here, but we are adults, or… This is not fair I hope that the Administrator/moderator will open my thread again ---

I suspect that Kyla and some of the others gave me replies so the thread would be closed. They where accusing me of being a nazi, called me a worm etc. I suspect that their intention was to get my thread closed by the moderator. ---

I had a thoroughly nasty response in the hopper and ready to go, but the last thread got locked. So, instead of chewing over some stale old insults, I’ll do you a favor. Back when Israel was a Roman province, you couldn’t swing a cat in Jerusalem without hitting someone who claimed to be the True Son of the House of David. In other words, everybody and their uncle claimed to be the Messiah. Most of them were crackpots, and were not taken seriously. Some of them shook the ground a bit more. You know one of them as Jesus (if he ever actually existed, but that’s another topic.) Another one of these “Messiahs” (and I apologize, but I don’t remember his name) came along a bit later, and took advantage of the instability in the Empire at the time to raise quite a following. For a while, they kicked some Roman ass. They killed Legionnaires, they burned barracks, and generally raised hell. Finally, as was inevitable, Rome got her shit together, and decided to “pacify” the rebellion. They sent Legions in, and every Jew they could catch was crucified out of general principle. Then (and this is the important part. Pay attention.), to add insult to injury, the Romans sowed the seeds of eternal dissent by taking control of the province away from the Jews and renaming the whole place after the Israelis worst historical nemeses: the Philistines. In Latin, this came out as _Terra Palestinia_. Palestine. Then, in 1948, after centuries of Muslim control over the region, a new Jewish homeland is established there. War was inevitable. Simplified, yes, and I usually hate generalism, but I’m tired and pissed off. I know I skipped the Crusades. I know I skipped the Ottoman Empire. Just wanted you to know I’m with ya. Thus you have the seeds of the conflict that rages to this day. And as for the Arabs not having a historical problem with the Jews, hello, the ones in question are militant Muslims, the same as the Palestinians(who may or may not be militant _in principle_, but are feeling a bit put-upon because they think they have more right to the land than the Jews. Of course there’s going to be trouble. Try not to be obtuse. And at least TRY to make some damned sense next time, and avoid spouting off based on half-formed conjecture. ---

You can post expecting people to disagree with you, but you should never post expecting people to be offended by your inflammatory slurs. Quincy- it is possible to have severe problems with the Isreali government, and still not be anti-semitic. After all, some of the very far-left members of the Knesset are very vocal in their dislike for the current administration. It is possible to be Anti-zionist, and still not be anti-semitic- some Jews are “anti-zionist” (they beleive that there should not be a homeland until it is time to rebuild the Temple). We can certainly argue both positions here- in fact we have argued pro & con Palestine vs Isreal many times\*. But you see, you are neither of these. You are a racist bigot. The comment about the jews in NY proved that. We don’t debate with bigots- it is a waste of bandwidth. Go away. If not- please, moderators- ban this bigot. My goodness. Quincy’, what the hell is wrong with you? You can’t seriously expect to get away with all this crap. Read Ogre’s history lesson. It is, besides entertaining, 100% true. As for offending people and comparing them to “millitant Serbs” and whatnot: I have a sneaking suspicion those words are gonna cost you dearly. It is entirely possible to debate the Israel-Palestina situation on these boards. It is also entirely possible to differ in opinion.
