…the trigger of this damned Wal-mart spray bottle straight into the blades of a cheep ass fan in a pathetic attempt to ghetto-MacGyver a swamp cooler/evaporative self cooling system because my Air Conditioner went tits-up and with my big-ass web server churning it is 96 miserable humid degrees at 11:00PM and I have to get to sleep some how for work at 5:00AM. ---

I feel your pain. The AC in my car went out one summer when I was just plain too broke to get it fixed. Here in NC, that’s no joke. I used a spray bottle in my car as “ghetto-MacGyver” (love that turn of phrase) AC that summer, too. Have you tried spraying yourself and letting the fan dry you? It worked OK in the car. ---

Hmmmmm… I’ll take some 96 degrees right now. For most of today, it’s been 7 degrees. (44 Fahrenheit). At least it’s keeping the mosquitoes from hatching! ---

I might be waaay off base here, seeing as I live where it is so dry your lips stick to your teeth, but I think you need to modify your scheme. Try soaking a cloth and draping it over the fan. The moving air causes the evap, taking the heat out of the air, thus cooling you as it hits you. Depends where you live and the moisture content in the air and all that. Plus, I’ve been drinking (a little) and have my best ideas slightly later (after “a lot”). My swamp cooler will freeze you out of the house, nearly, while enveloping you in an odor that can best be described as “ass meets feet”. But as least its cool! 😃 ---

Heh, swamp cooler. I remember those. We can’t have them in Portland since it’s humid all the time. Well, that and it barely cracks 80º all summer, except for one week when we all wanna die of heat exhaustion when it hits 100º.
