Not too bad. Not too bad at all. With luck it’ll dominate Thursday nights, as NBC hopes. Best moments: - Joy and Darnell consult their tattoos to remember their boys’ birthdates - Randy keeps going back to that guy whose wife Earl slept with - The boys at the youth camp check out Catalina while she’s building an ostrich pen with Earl Best lines: - “Randy’s afraid of two things: chickens and the Pope’s big hat. Mainly 'cause he thinks there might be a chicken under there.” “Well, if you put both your heads together… good luck with that.” Two questions: - Our reception is crummy. What were all of the inappropriate signs above the youth camp’s gate? - Could a Spanish-speaking Doper give us a translation of Catalina’s (presumably insulting) comments to Joy? ---

I thought Randy was afraid of ALL birds…the bird in the “flashback” tent clip was a duckling, and his was pretty nervous about the ostrich. I have crappy recetion too, didn’t catch the signsand no hablar espanol (or spell it either) sorry. ---

I know one of the signs was “Bringing Boys to their Knees,” and another was “Making Boys Turn Around.” They definitely went from bad to worse. ---

I was able to read the signs (thank… someone for HD!). I can’t remember them all, but two were: “Touching boys since 19xx” and “Turning boys around since 19xx” The other one was something about putting boys on their knees. The ‘modern’ sign was something like “We don’t molest boys”. The signs were great :). ---

Catalina is getting hotter and hotter. 😉 And I too would really like to know what she said in Spainish. “I don’t know, we were always blindfolded when we were taken there. But my father was shot in El Dienco, so it must have been north of the river of blood.” “We couldn’t drink fresh waterl because of all the dead bodies in the well.” :eek: 😃 ---

Forgot to mention, on p. 63 of the latest _Newsweek_ (Jan. 9, with Bush and Cheney on the cover) is a little blurb about “Earl” being moved to Thursday, with a photo of Joy in all her white-trash glory and Crab Man in the background. ---

This episode had me giggling from beginning to end. I loved the bit where they were dragging the stolen birdbath down the hall. Earl meets one of his former students from his ESL class. The student says something like, “It’s bad luck to take birdbaths from strangers.” Randy’s fear of birds cracked me up. From the part where he went into the chicken pen only to be confronted by an ostrich to shooting at the chickens with a nail gun to the end where he’s afraid the ostrich will show up again that gag played out in a hysterically funny way. This is my favorite new show of the current television season. ---

I loved the Joy - Catalina exchange: Joy - Don’t strain your toilet scrubbing hand Catalina - Long winded spanish insult Joy - Sorry, I don’t speak “Maid” Zing! Score one for Joy. She had some very good lines this episode. I think the modern sign said “We don’t do anything inappropriate to the boys.” “If those little monsters could forgive me, then I could forgive my own brother.” Great episode. ---

Another great line, when Catalina bandaged up Earl’s hand and said, “If you do this to your other hand, I’m going to take you to my church and watch the old ladies cry over you.” 😃 ---

Randy, upon hearing a rooster crow: That’s a MAN chicken! Also, Randy’s reaction to the bird flying into the window (obviously flung from off-stage, which made it even funnier) and Randy yelling “Okay everybody, listen up!” in the bank had me just rolling. ---
