My deepest and sincerest condolences to you and your family. Suicide is such a difficult thing to get past. I lost a brother. My heart breaks for the passengers of that car and those involved in the resulting accident. It seems like this suicide method was designed to spread horror to the maximum number of people, which is beyond tragic. ---

Suicide often happens when impulse meets opportunity, and ISTM that’s what this likely was: he saw an opportunity, felt an overwhelming impulse, and the only consideration he could muster for the people around him was to hand over that ring. ---

As a first responder, I have been to the scene of a number of suicides. Especially after a traumatic one (as opposed to, say, an overdose) I wouldn’t sleep for a night or two. I didn’t know any of them, which means I was ‘lucky’ enough to not have survivor’s guilt - “If only I \_\_\_”. I can’t imagine that burden. It was never that way with, say, a traumatic car accident. There’s one I still can’t talk about, decades later. - Sorry if anyone finds my comments less-than-tasteful. However, I do believe they are an appropriate reply to **Ambivilid** ’s post about what ‘outsiders’ feel. ---
