# My nomination for "Dogshit of the Year" Award - grow-op fire culprit

I could see the value in that if it’s light snow, but in this case, that wouldn’t have worked. There was too much snow to just take a straight run at it to clear. It would have been push, back up, push, back up, as the snow would have pilled up in front of them too much.
Also, many of the fire trucks engines and tires are not equipped for this type of work. Besides, REALLY, the damn city should be clearing residential roads, ffs.

No - running a illegal enterprise is, generally, what makes someone inconsiderate asshole, not growing a couple plants the authorities don’t like for your own purposes. Average Joe growing pot for himself - likely not a problem. Some jackass doing a jury-rigged house rewiring, stealing current (bypassing the meter), and planning to break the law for a living - not such a nice guy.

Why doesn’t Calgary tighten up its shitty building code and use tax revenues to keep the streets plowed? Would that be seen as just too “socialist”, or what?

There are some very funny things that go on here (like city council’s attitude towards road usage - people are using roads for driving! We must put an immediate stop to that!) that I will never understand. Not clearing the roads and allowing shitty building codes are on that list.
I haven’t seen a picture of the “peace bridge” before - that architect is an idiot. You’re designing a bridge for a lovely natural park setting - of course it should be screaming red and look like a coronary stent (or a bullet train or a snake). I hate architects.

In today’s _Calgary Herald_, it has been reported that the man who had the grow-op that caused the fire has been sentenced to 7 years in jail.
