ESPN - ESPN2 - ABC. These three networks have announced on numerous occasions that they are “partners” in bringing World Cup coverage to the states. Over on ESPN they remind us of the game times being shown on ESPN2 and ABC. ABC makes sure we know which games are being shown on the ESPN channels. Here’s what I would like. When a game is going to be shown on ABC via tape delay … … **DON’T TELL ME THE FUCKING SCORE BEFORE YOU REMIND ME TO WATCH IT!!!** ## Jesus, at least give us a heads up that you will be discussing it before flashing it on the screen and running the highlights. I tells ya, it don’t make no sense!! Just needed to get that off my chest. ---

Tell me about it. The damn scores are right on the front page of [ESPN.com](http://ESPN.com), or at least, a headline that implies a score. I noticed a game on ABC yesterday, and thought that I’d try this soccer thing out, see if I could get into it. Of course it was the Ireland game that ended in a tie, and I already knew the outcome. I wish there was a way to keep this stuff a secret when the TV showing is on tape delay… ---

I was trying to be cheeky, or at least start a new inside joke. There is [another thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=118152) where somebody meant to say a “Mild Rant” and left off the “M”. Gve me a break I haven’t been posting here a few weeks. I can’t be hilarious all the time. ---

And I just noticed that I misspelles Rant as Rand. So I see the confusion, as it were, in that you thought I was talking about a person whose last name may or may not have been Rand and whose first name was the rather obscure and downright nonexistant word, “ild”, when in fact I was being a smart ass in referring to another thread that I knew full well, a vast majorities of Dopers probably had not even read and therefore could not, within reason, make the connection between that thread and this one, therefore … What the hell was I talking about again? Fuck it. England - Sweden (tie game 1-1) is on in a few hours. I need a nap. ---

I was about to post and commiserate. I have been meticulous about not seeing the scores ahead of time. So, instead I’m going to say **fuck you!** Thanks for ruining the England game for me. -Sarah, one angry British ex-pat who is going to prentend that she didn’t see that. ---

It doesn’t matter anyway. I just went and tried to watch it and I can’t. ☹ The local station has decided to pre-empt the game with telethon for sick kids. I can’t even bring myself to rant about it. “Hey you, quit raising money for the childrens’ hospital and let me watch the World Cup!” Ummm, no. I’ve had a sick kid. I guess I’ll go give them some money. ---

I watched both games taped on ABC and something was fucked with their sound. They were just a wee bit off-sync. Most of the time you couldn’t tell. But when someone was about to score, they’d break into the open, take the shot, and you’d hear “Goal!” before it crossed the line! Fucking incompetents. ---

In Asia, everyone always watches the games live so they avoid that dang score thing before watching the tape delay. This time, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA y’all get a taste of what it’s like to be in the wrong time zone. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHA
