# My plates are shooting sparks.

Put a plate with pie on it in the microwave this morning.

Less that 15 seconds later, flashes appeared in the microwave.

DAMN IT!

Cheap outlet store plates aint microwave safe!

Sparks around plate.

I’m guessing there is a small bit of metal in the plate. Gold (well…fake gold) rim? Metallic paint?

I’ve had just plain _garlic_ in a glass pyrex cup spark when I microwave it with a drip of olive oil - many times. What the hell is up with that?

No, just cheapy-ass plates.

Went out & bought a small Corelle set at Kmart today at lunch.

I bought a set of plastic plates at the dollar store just for microwaving stuff. Got 4 for a dollar or something. The plates are ugly and cheap looking, but I can nuke whatever on them without sparks.
