How would my Post Per Day rate change if my abscence is taken into account? (IOW-my PPD for only the time I’ve been an active member)

Have you ever been an active member? You aren’t now – your status line says Guest. IANMod, but I think you are considered a Guest more or less forever, whether you’re around posting or not. Though perhaps they periodically do a purge of Guests who’ve been inactive for a long period.

Remember, if your PPD rate is too high, you should consider working at a place with less exposure to tuberculosis patients.

How long have you been an active member? How many posts have you made? Divide # posts by time active member in days.

I think “active member” in this case includes guest members. Active is the key word, i.e. participating in the board.

I don’t believe they ever purge the member list, whether “guests” or paid members. Other than computer snafus, like swapping from one board software to another and records getting hashed in the process, or server collapses that delete non-archived records.

Perhaps “active” is the key word to **etv** , but as far as most organizations are concerned, the key word is “member”, not “guest”, since the members are the ones paying the bills.

Also, the question doesn’t make a lot of sense to me if **etv** considers his “guest” status to be the same thing as an active member. How would anyone be able to figure out how his average post count would change without looking through every single day and subtracting days without posts for the total of days since registration? It would seem to be a considerably easier task if he was a Member during specific date ranges when posts could be counted within those ranges.

**Irishman** -I was active from 5/2002-~12/2004, came back 12/2009 have 6065 posts.

(33 months + 36 months) x 30 =2070 days
6065 posts/ 2070 days = 2.93 posts per day

You need to slow down your PPD and spend more time studying basic math. 😛

Well, originally all registered posters were members. Then the board went pay to post, and us non-paying registered members became “guests”. Be that as it may, from a stats standpoint, one thing people seem interested in is how many people are actively posting, rather than how many are paid. The term “active member” has come up several times in ATMB in that context, so that is the context I am assuming for **etv**.

What I assume **etv** is asking is that he was actively reading and posting for a while, took a hiatus where he didn’t post, then subsequently returned and started posting. It appears to map with the pay-to-post experiment, similar to me.

I don’t know why **etv** is concerned about Post per day rate. That appears to be an averaging problem, and I don’t know how finely he wants it parsed. I’m assuming he’s looking at some measure of activity based upon how many posts per day average during the periods he was here posting, and wants to delete the period he wasn’t posting from the numbers. Ergo my previous questions. His status as member or guest is irrelevant to the question he appears to be asking, which is something to do with how involved he’s been.

Seriously? You couldn’t do that basic math on your own?

He wants to be a \*history \*professor, not a math professor. You can’t expect the moon!

It sounds like \*\*etv78 \*\* would like (as **Boyo Jim** calculated) the system to calculate the average posts per day for only the days he logged in and/or posted; in other words, “active member” is somebody who is actively posting here (or just logging in), so by that definition he was inactive outside the periods he states he was active.

That is, if I made 10 posts in 3 days then went for 7 days without logging in, the average posts per day would be 10/3 or 3.33, not 10/10 or 1, as currently calculated (it would count the days if I logged in but didn’t post).
