When it’s spinning, it’s rocking back and forth. Is there something I can do with the feet to keep it from rocking?

> Almost put this in the Pit. Got my 92 year old mother a new clothes washing machine. The other one just gave up the ghost after 30 years of use. This is an expensive unit. But it shakes like a crazy. It’s ridiculous. I’ve had washing machines all my life, I know they shake bad when they get off balance. This brand new machine shakes like crazy even when you do a wash with NO clothes in it. The only thing out of balance is the machine itself. Or it’s a horrible design or missing some of the bal…

Recent thread FWIW.

Not too long ago we bought a washer that did that in the first few days. The repair guys came out and glued the washer’s feet to the floor. To keep it from dancing and thumping around the laundry.

When I got home I and learned of this I called and told them to get back here and remove the gluing devices, and if one single tile broke or was discolored, they would install a complete new floor. And take back the washer and drier and return my old one.

All of a sudden, don’t you know, they learned of a problem the manufacturer was having with an internal damper, but since they couldn’t get that part, we were getting a brand new functioning machine.

And the floor tile turned out fine.

(Also, make sure the load is evenly distributed. I assume you already did that.)

Cats are adaptable, though not always happy about adapting. Regardless, the cat will find a new place, if it finds the washer unacceptable.

1. Make sure the machine is level - front to back - side to side.
2. While the washer is off, can you rock the machine by hand? If so, the feet are at different levels and need to be uniformly making contact with the floor. Adjust the legs and relevel if necessary.
3. If the unit is on a pedestal, this tends to raise the center of gravity and could accentuate vibration. Other than steps 1 & 2, not much can be done unless the cause is the pedestal not tightly bolted to the washer.
4. Is this doesn’t correct the problem and the machine is under warranty, give them a call. Their initial response may point to unbalanced/heavy loads as the culprit so let them know this occurs even with a water wash.

My previous front loader was on a pedestal with mild to severe rocking (depending upon the load) I could not correct. When it was time for a replacement, I opted to omit the pedestal and after completing steps 1 & 2 above, I have no vibrating issues.
