If the OP’s sister actually behaved as the OP described, the sister is a wretched human being. I know I only get the OP’s evaluation and the truth lies somewhere in between that damnation and bliss. There is nothing inherent in being a woman that makes one’s actions or words non-misogynistic. Pointing out misogynistic behavior is not itself rendered misogynistic because of the genders of the people involved. “Cunt” may or may not be an insult that promotes and reinforces the patriarchy; I’m not in a position to take a stand one way or another about that. But certainly it’s the duty of everybody to call out the things we understand to be misogynistic, regardless of where we see them? ---

I remember when Howard Stern had his show on E! of the filmed version of his broadcasts. Before his guests come into the studio, producer Baby Booey would go over a list of rules with them, of what you can say and cannot say on the air. What’s funny is how the context of his litany was treated by the censors. “You can call somebody a dick, but you have to say ‘penis’ instead of BLEEP when you’re talking about the body part. Likewise, you can call somebody a pussy, but you have to say ‘vagina’ instead of BLEEP when you’re talking about the body part.” ---

I don’t tilt at windmills trying to express that belief in real life with c word, n word or any others where ‘I can say it but you can’t’ is applied. But I still don’t buy it. Maybe you don’t either, but one might take that inference. A word is acceptable in a setting or not, not acceptable for one person to say but not another, same setting, IMO. The ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ episode about this was typically hilarious. Larry learned as Jeff told him: ‘cunt is lot heavier than dick’. But before anyone shows off their advanced identity studies to explain why ‘history’ makes this perfectly logical, no it doesn’t. A lot of social conventions are complete nonsense. That’s why that’s such a funny show. It doesn’t mean people with common sense make a constant habit of ignoring social conventions though. A lot of times it’s not worth the effort. But if some disembodied voice on the internet calls somebody else a ‘cunt’, I don’t give a hoot the writer’s sex and don’t see why I should. ---
