When I got pregnant last year, I was wearing a size 20. Last time I was in a 14 was my senior year of high school. I had a very few items of clothing left from that time, and this morning I tried a pair of jeans on, just on a whim, and… THEY FIT!!! HALLELUJAH! PRAISE THE LARD!

I think it’s a combination of healthy living, breastfeeding, and chasing Whatsit Jr. around all the time. I can’t believe that it took getting pregnant and having a baby to finally lose the damn weight. I mean, how’s that for irony?

Size 14, baby! There are more than two stores that carry clothes in my size now! I can buy jeans that aren’t so long they look like they were made for a member of the WNBA! I don’t have chipmunk cheeks! (OK, I still have chipmunk cheeks, but that’s just genetics. My chipmunk cheeks are smaller, dammit.)

I still have a bunch of weight to lose before I reach my target, but I’m just so happy to have lost as much as I have. This is the first time I have lost weight and actually kept it off for ANY length of time. I feel so much more energetic and alert, I think from eating better, watching my blood sugar levels more closely (I’m pre-diabetic), and well, just losing that extra 20 pounds.

It was a triumphant moment this morning and I just thought I’d share. 😃

Wow, someone’s first post on the SDMB was in my squeezing-into-old-jeans thread. I think I feel honored!

Many congratulations! One thing, though… I’ve found that when I’ve used “Praise the lard” as a battle cry, I’ve wound up worse than when I started out. 😉
