# My son finally passed his driver’s test!

I took my very first driver test circa 1968 in Los Angeles. I passed the first time, although with the help of a bit of beginner’s luck.

I was so-so skillful at parallel parking. The test included a parallel parking test at the DMV parking lot, between a set of bendy poles. It was an uncomfortably tight space. Yet I absolutely aced it on the first try – definitely a fluke! If the test had been to park successfully twice out of three tries, I might not have passed.
