I lost an older sister due to addiction and mental illness; I was only in 7th grade and she was 12 years older than I. Forty-plus years later I clearly remember what it did to our parents despite the battles they went through. I don’t think my mother ever quite got over it. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and your pain. Your post was so eloquent, thank you for that. ---

Oh my God, **Chefguy** , I am so sorry for you. Children should never die before their parents, it must be one of the heaviest crosses a person can bear, I just can’t imagine. I was an addict for many years whilst young and lost too many good friends to overdoses but this is different. This is your son, your child, the baby you held in your arms. Words fail me but my heart goes out to you. ---
