# My son learned an important lesson this weekend...

I like that colour, but I wouldn’t dye my hair with that. I prefer streaking my hair.

I think it looks good. That’s a pretty good color. In most of the towns I’ve lived in no one would even bat an eye at that, but then again I dwell on college campuses, mainly, and I think that Portland, Oregon is a “normal place.”

I once made a mistake of several steps: A) starting with bleached white-blond hair B) going for Manic Panic TM “dark tulip”, which should have come out like that singer form L7’s hair (dating myself): the result, with the bleached start, was more like flaming magenta. After about a week I shot for C) “natural blond”-- the boxed haircolor makers are absolutely insane-- this natural color was really canary yellow, and since me and the pal who did this step were . . . alcoholically-enhanced at the moment, some spots were touched more lightly than others resulting in D) something like “yellow with pink spots.” I was working on a grounds crew that summer with some Limbaugh-listening conservative types and my pal that very weekend had pierced her nose. When we both went to work that Monday, with the magenta hair no one even noticed her pierced nose.

Moral of the story-- blond hair? Whatever the color on the bottle/ box is, expect something far more garish.
