I’m amazed it took 154 posts to mention the Newt. Everything got dramatically worse when the Reps kowtowed to him.
I just wanted to mention that somewhere on the boards I remarked that to me DEI meant hiring a more qualified minority over a less qualiified white Christian man and someone said they had seen the opposite. I cannot deny that happened, although I’ve never witnessed it, but Trump/Musk have amply demonstrated that my view was essentially correct. Ending DEI means hiring less qualfied white men over hightly qualified minorities.
I am absolutely certain that less qualified “minorities” have been hired over more qualified white guys, just because it’s inevitable amongst all the zillions of hiring decisions that get made and efforts to establish some degree of equality, that’s gonna happen. Human effort is rife with errors and injustices.
I’m just not sure how that’s a worse system than the old one.

Yup. Even with accepting that it’s aspirational (and we’ve got an awfully long way to go). That’s why I call 45/47 the America-hating fuckstick. Because he hates what our country is supposed to stand for (and behaviorally, he’s a fuckstick).
