I’m not sure if that’s the case. When I read “I thought I was doing all the right things but my sister and I would be standing there waiting for the train to arrive and it would come from the opposite direction I was expecting to come from so I’d be worried that it was going in the opposite direction of where we were headed”, I infer that they found the correct platform, but the train came from a different direction than she expected. And what I’m trying to explain to her is that it doesn’t matter; who cares? Just find the right platform by looking at the signs, and whether the train comes from the right or the left doesn’t matter. It’s a classic case of making things too difficult.
While I do think friedo’s “Trains almost always drive on the right” is confusing and not really helpful, I do think he was on the right track (ha!) regarding what the OP was asking.
