It’s just around the corner. I cannot wait! I’m arranging a small gathering here, with snacks and drinks. I’ve heard all about the campy songs, the interesting costumes and the VOTING! Now, the results of the French jury… Now, how could you have missed this all this time, **Ana**? And for some Eurovision gossip, I heard once that Celine Deion Sanders once won Eurovision competing for Switzerland (little nationality slut that she is). Anyone know if this is true? (I’m sure I could Google or just go to the link, but I’m leaving in a minute for a meeting). ---

I dun know how Israel got into Eurovision, but I can assure you they looooooove it there. I was living in Israel when they hosted the competition (thanks to the win the previous year by the uber-fabulous Dana International), and it was a _huge_ deal. I would get a TV if I could watch Eurovision. ---

For the love of GOD, Anahita, there’s gotta be more to do in Galway than watch the dreaded EuroVision Song Contest! 🙂 Having said that, the Dutch entry is being tipped as a major contender (though the Dutch press _always_ sees our entry as a major contender, it’s kind of like the attitude towards our football team :)), so I’ll be posting a victory thread if “we” do win it, of course. I don’t know the exact reason why Israel is in it, to be honest. ---

EUROVISION!!! Shush Coldifre! I have been trying to avoid hearing any of the entries, but I have heard the German and Russian entries as well as the Swedish. Pizza, wine and Eurovision, every year. I can’t believe that it’s on so late this year… I hate when groups that are already famous outside the host country compete, it’s such a fucking cheat (KC and the Sunshine Band, TATU etc). How bout we put U2 up there, eh? Howdya like that Portugal? And as for Russia, Turkey and Isreal being in Eurovision, don’t even get me started. I mean cred for some great entries, but come on! :is all dizzy now and needs to have a lie down…: but count me in Anahita. Anyone up for real-time squealing in the chatroom? ---

The local radio station, GalwayBayFM plays it CONSTANTLY. Seriously, one out of every five songs is ole Mickey Harte crooning about how ‘we’ve got the world to-night.’ Mostly, I just want it to be over so I don’t have to hear that song anymore. 😉 ---

What about Kathrina and the Waves? THAT was a cheat as well. (I’m sure that’s what Iteki was referring to when he said “KC and the Sunshine band”, who are in fact American. :D) TATU are really competing for Russia? Damn you, Trevor Horne, and your clever marketing tricks. Another award won. ---

It’s awful. Though, admittedly, not as awful as [last year’s entry](http://www.corinnamay.com/intro.php). She was blind and I wished I was deaf. And blind. Of course I’ll be there this year as well to toast Germany giving _douze points_ to Turkey and getting _zero points_ from Austria. ---

Spain´s entry isn´t too bad either. Well I hated it at first but it´s a bit of a grower. Should be a fun one this year politics being the way it is and all. I´m going to miss Wogan´s comments this year. They´re always the best part:) As for why Israel are in it. I think it has something to do with a European broadcasting group or something. This is clearly very vague though and I´ll see if I can´t find something more concrete. Anyone remember last year´s competition. One song involved a group of guys dressed as armymen doing this fantastically crap walking dance thing, it was maybe Greece… Anyway that´s something else… For my part I´ll go with Spain winning - for no other reason than the fact that´s where I am. ---

The again, I voted for a couple of people because I could not decide. None of MY votes got any points in the end, though.
