Google is my friend. Keep those epi-pens at your side and **get a medical alert bracelet or necklace**. Be sure it is engraved **anaphylactic** , not just allergic. Clues to the medics and ER to not mess around and wonder, just to slam the resuscitation right into you. I like Lauren’s Hope medical alert jewelry. Pretty and something that is fun to wear. May seem pricey but the quality is very high and something you’ll enjoy wearing, or at least not mind, is so much better than something homely that ends up unworn on top of the dresser. Afternoon all. Back to work today - first time in the classroom in 11 days. Felt good, and the kids were on the ball as well. The El Dorado fire has erupted again and is threatening mountain communities now. Lots more smoke, but it’s all going somewhere other than my place, which is just fine. The cats are getting more and more accepting of the new kitten. Now if I can just get him to stop crapping on soft things and confine himself to the litter box, which he KNOWS how to use! ---

Rain, glorious rain! OK, it was more like a shower and didn’t do much to clear the air, but I’m pushing it east via telekinesis and hoping Oregon is getting some relief. I had a salon appointment and had to restrain myself from doing my Gene Kelly impersonation en route. **Bumba** , that was WAY too close! Glad you’re OK. Are you practicing with the trainer pen? I had to practice with one in case of a student emergency but thank heavens, never had to actually use one on a kid. And I hope YOU never have to use yours. Cake…lessee…I’m quite fond of German chocolate cake, but my birthday is on Sunday, and I always have a piece on my birthday, so surprise me! I like anything that doesn’t have that grainy shortening-based frosting so beloved of supermarket bakeries. And I’m OK with fruitcake if it doesn’t contain citron, which I believe is really recycled pencil erasers. Does anyone know why my profile pic thing disappeared from the top of the page? There’s nothing there at all now. Do I exist? Quick, someone poke me! **Sari** , would a tee shirt work for Echo? That’s what the vet had me do when my lab had staples on her abdomen. I stuck her front legs through the arm holes and tied a knot at the hem–very Eighties. I think you’d make a great delegate, **swampy**! **wordy** , can’t blame you for being irked. Anyone can make a mistake and send the wrong link, but not responding to questions is inexcusable. It sounds like you handled it just right, though. **Nellie** I see a red picture for your avatar. And zucchini (along with tomatoes, eggplant and the like) are best first sliced & salted, then left to sit for a while so the water can drain off. The poke chop was delicious. Proof god loves us & wants us to be happy, it was that good. Beans are almost done - loves me the Instant Pot! But, woe and alack, I had no cilantro, and had to rush out & visit not one but _two_ markets to find any! What kinda beans don’t have cilantro, I mean _really._ ---

I did have to pour of some liquid at the end, still. Dinner tonight will be leftover Mexican food. Dinner tomorrow is expected to be leftover zucchini lasag… ‘casserole’. Dinner Wednesday is expected to be leftover rib-eye steaks (and we’ll probably share an ear of corn). Still have leftover taco meat for… whenever. ---

Can’t be more than on mine. Lauren’s Hope lets you engrave a lot of lines. I was surprised. Once you get in the important stuff (including the v-fib), use the last line to put ‘wallet card’. Clues the EMTs and ER to look for the rest there, including a list of medications, frequently updated. I also put “ICE 402555XXXX” on the engraving for In Case Of Emergency, call this number (the spaces aren’t needed). You can always get your sweetie a matching one so the world will know you’re going steady and “Hands Off!’’. **Boo** (nobody is wearing a matching bracelet to mine, more’s the pity, waste of a good woman) ---

**Johnny** , should you get another big zucchini, they make really good zucchini parm. Just salt and drain, flour, egg wash and bread them with bread crumbs mixed with grated parmesian and deep fry. Top spagetti with marinara with it and you have a good vegetarian meal. **OW** , as much time as you and **ruble** spent in Amish country, you should have a pretty discerning palette for pie. 😮 😮 😮 **bumba**! Glad you got the hospital in time. Your epi-pens are pretty easy to use (says the chick who has used them for a few years) and make life easier for those of us with severe allergies. As for med-alert bracelets, they make them hinged, opening like a locket to reveal an accordion folded paper with additional info. **sari** , I hope that Echo’s surgery goes well and she’s back to play at the dog park soon. I like the sea glass paint that you chose. **shoe** , try your local Mexican or international market. That’s where I buy any kind of dried beans. To answer the OP, I like cake, but have to eat it in limited doses, so I’m picky. I love good carrot cake with cream cheese icing, deep, dark chocolate cake (I make Mom’s mayonnaise cake every couple of years), fruitcake from the monks in Georgia the best. I absolutely hate red velvet cake (or any cake/icing with a ton of food coloring) because there isn’t enough chocolate in it to be interesting and the TWO FREAKIN’ BOTTLES of red food coloring per cake leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Any cake with coconut is right out (I used to make coconut layer cake for my late brother’s birthday every year and didn’t touch a bite of it) because…coconut. Irked, came home, walked the dog, vacuumed, and et supper. Time for KP and the studio. Stay safe and healthy y’all! ---
