It was a comic novel from the 80s or early 90s about a maverick film director.

His big hit was an E.T.-like movie set in Beirut. Lots of short chapters. Very funny.

It ends with him accidentally killing a bunch of orphans who turn out to be Neo-Nazi midgets in disguise.

Any one know it?

There was this thriller about a salesman who was kidnapped and forced to make moonshine in a barn with other captives.

Anyone got that one?
